Ground broken

Wow! [3/17/2014] 3 years later and I discover this blog. I forgot to keep it up.

I’m trying to do 2 things at once, even though I’ve been warned that is at least 1 too many : 1) Build a house, and 2) Create a record of the project in the form of a Blog. I much more qualified @#1 as I’ve built 2 houses and I’m really down on the learning curve with blogs. However I do have hope as I feel I’m beyond the basics in computer savvy. Ground broken

And I keep clinging to the myth of “User Friendly”. I don’t have much time learn #2 but here’s a go at it.

Ground was broken yesterday on our project. The excavation was completed in less than 10 hours by dirt man Buck Dolan of Belgrade who I met on the phone the day before. Both the local excavators I had lined out proved to be unavailable at crunch time. Jason Lea the  foundation contractor was on a tight schedule and I didn’t want to lose him.

Anyhow Buck dug the hole and today Jason placed the forms and poured the footings. Tomorrow he will form and pour the foundation walls. He will strip the forms and move on to another job on Monday.  General contractor nephew Leonard Miller has acted as overseer and will start his portion of the construction in earnest of Monday May 2. Diane and I are both skeptical, but Lenny believes he can complete the job in 4 months.

This is a start and I’m not confident I’ll be able (or find the energy) to keep up the blog, but Mark says yo learn by doing.
